Our whole house water filters utilize KDF/GAC media, a patented filtration and treatment process. Dr. Andrew Weil recommends this technology as the most comprehensive and cost effective system available today. Not all KDF/GAC water filters are created equal. Some competing systems contain significantly less than the recommended levels of KDF media and will not provide the full range of treatments benefits you are looking for. Our water filters meet or exceed the media quantity levels recommended by KDF Fluid Treatment, Inc.. For well water applications, please read important information at end of page.. The primary difference in the whole house filters listed below is the rated capacity, ranging from 150,000 gallons to 750,000. Our whole house water filters are designed primarily for treating minicipal water. The treatment capacity ratings are warranted for use on municipal supplies. This is because the level of contaminants found in well water can vary drastically, while municipal water must meet Federal standards that limit the range of variation. If you have well water and want to consider using a KDF/GAC based whole house water filter, we recommend you first obtain a professional water analysis. If you provide us with this information we can respond back as to the suitability of a KDF/GAC system for your home or what other options might be appropriate. We are often asked if a KDF/GAC whole house filter should be located before or after a water softner. In the case of municipal supplies, the whole house filter should be installed before the water softner. The KDF/GAC reduction of chlorine will extend the life of the softner resin bed. For well water situations, the whole house filter should be placed after the water softner. This configuration reduces the potential for mineral clogging of the whole house filter.
